Here's a breakdown of Australia Post Travel Insurance features

Standard features

These are some of the main insured events that Australia Post may cover you for if something does go wrong on your trip. Some of these inclusions are only available for certain levels of cover (e.g. the comprehensive policy versus the basic policy).

Optional add-ons

As well as the benefits explained above, you can use the following options to vary your cover where necessary. Generally, these variations will attract an increased premium.

Exclusions

All insurance plans have their own set of circumstances where you won't be covered. Generally, Australia Post will not pay your claim if it relates to:

You can submit your claim by downloading a claim form online and posting it to the Australia Post Travel Insurance claim team at:

Here's the bottom line about Australia Post Travel Insurance

Australia Post's travel policies are nothing to sneeze at. You'll find generous limits that rival even our best travel insurance picks, especially if you're looking for comprehensive cover when hiring a car. Its flexible plans allow you to tailor your policy not just with optional add-ons but also your choice of cancellation cover and excess.

Once you look under the bonnet, though, you might find reasons to think twice. Australia Post's COVID-19 cover will cover you for overseas medical expenses and additional accommodation and travel expenses, but if you want cover for cancellation costs or cruise travel, you're out of luck. Pregnant travellers should read the fine print as well, as there are certain exclusions that could mean you're not covered, especially if you're having twins or travelling after your 23rd week of pregnancy.

Finder may receive remuneration from the Provider if you click on the related link, purchase or enquire about the product. Finder's decision to show a 'promoted' product is neither a recommendation that the product is appropriate for you nor an indication that the product is the best in its category. We encourage you to use the tools and information we provide to compare your options. Where our site links to particular products or displays 'Go to site' buttons, we may receive a commission, referral fee or payment when you click on those buttons or apply for a product.
