Advance your nursing career and prepare for national certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner with our online Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
The online Nursing MSN program is open to eligible in-state and many out-of-state applicants. The program is closed to all students (including U.S. military and State Department personnel and their family members) residing in a country other than the United States.
Indiana State University graduates are prepared and eligible to apply for national certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
Our online Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a family nurse practitioner concentration is designed for registered nurses who are interested in advancing their education or careers in the health and human services profession.
All courses are offered online. Clinical placements are arranged by the student in the state(s) where they are licensed. On-campus visits are not required.
The program can be completed in 2.5-3 years with part-time study. However, students are required to complete the program in a maximum of 3-5 years.
By building upon and expanding our students' knowledge and skills as professional registered nurses, the MSN program prepares graduates to meet the ANCC and AANP certification competencies. Our graduates are eligible to apply for national certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). In addition, the MSN is preparation for further advanced study, including the University’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).

The Graduate Nursing Program at Indiana State University admitted its first students in 1986. It has maintained continuous accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN) since 1989.
Applications are accepted twice a year. The deadlines are October 1 for Spring (January start) and March 1 for Fall (August start).
