Additional car insurance coverages & features

Loan/lease payoff

If you finance or lease your car and it's stolen or totaled, loan lease payoff may cover the difference between what you owe on your vehicle and its actual worth, up to 25% of its actual cash value.

Rental car reimbursement

With rental car reimbursement, we'll pay for a rental car if you're in a covered accident, up to your policy's limits.

Auto roadside assistance

Progressive's Roadside Assistance pays for towing services, lock-out service, flat tire changes, fuel/fluid delivery if you run out of gas, and other related issues.

Trip interruption

Trip interruption, in states where available, is an add-on for customers who have Progressive's Roadside Assistance coverage. If you're more than 100 miles from home and your car breaks down, trip interruption can pay up to $500 of your related covered costs. The daily limit is $100 for lodging, $50 for transportation, and $50 for food. Trip interruption isn't available for off-road vehicles.

Vehicle protection

Where available, Progressive Vehicle Protection covers a newer car's major systems (non-accident-related), minor dents and dings, and even lost, stolen, or damaged keys. You may be eligible for this coverage if your car is newer and also has liability, comprehensive, collision, rental car, and roadside assistance with trip interruption coverages.

Custom parts and equipment value (CPE) coverage

Custom parts and equipment (CPE) coverage can help pay to repair or replace items that you add to modify your car, like a stereo, navigation system, custom wheels, or even a paint job. CPE coverage typically has a $5,000 limit.

Rideshare coverage *

If you drive for a rideshare service, rideshare coverage must be added to your Progressive auto insurance policy to protect you when you're logged into a ridesharing app or delivery service platform and waiting for a trip/delivery request.

Deductible Savings Bank®

You can add Deductible Savings Bank to your auto insurance policy, which subtracts $50 from your collision or comprehensive deductibles for every violation and claim-free six-month policy period. Learn more about disappearing deductibles.

Pet injury coverage

We'll cover up to $1,000 of your pet's veterinary bills if they're injured in an accident while riding in your car with you. Pet injury coverage is automatically included when you add collision coverage to your policy.

What state do you live in? Select state

Why we ask: Minimum liability limits vary by state, along with coverage requirements for medical payments, personal injury protection, and uninsured/underinsured bodily injury and property damage.

Do you own a home or have assets totaling more than $50,000?

Why we ask: Your total assets, including your home's equity, should be accounted for when determining the right amount of liability coverage.

Why we ask: Lenders often require higher liability limits on leased or financed vehicles, as well as comprehensive and collision coverage.

How much is your vehicle worth?

Why we ask: Depending on your vehicle's value, you might need physical damage coverage even if your car is paid in full.

Do you owe more on your loan or lease than the car is worth?

Why we ask: If the amount you owe on your vehicle exceeeds its value, gap insurance can pay the difference between your loan/lease amount and the market value of the car.

Why we ask: If your car is totaled or damaged in an accident, and you don’t have the funds to buy a new one or pay for repairs, then physical damage coverages are recommended — especially if you're dependent on your car for transportation.

When insuring your car, which do you prefer?

Why we ask: You may prefer a lower rate for car insurance in exchange for a higher deductible. That means you'll pay more out of pocket if you have a policy claim. If you prefer a lower deductible, your insurance premium will increase.

Why we ask: Rental car reimbursement is an optional coverage that pays for a rental vehicle while your car is being repaired due to damage from a covered accident.

Why we ask: You need special coverage on your personal auto policy if you drive for a ridesharing company or delivery service in order to fill the gaps between your insurance and the company's.
